John Tremaine founder/owner of Q-Tran called me about a month ago to urge me to vote affirmatively on the final UL 1838 ballot; we are both on the STPs for low voltage lighting both indoor and outdoor. During our brief conversation he alerted me that Q-Tran's outdoor-rated transformers were now available. We discussed the imminence of this product line some years ago. However he did not mention the Qwire product and so your post is my first news of its existence.
The Qwire and Qclik products (a "system") are very interesting but on first glance simply an elaboration (refinement?) on existing compressed gland watertight connector technology. In looking at their PDFs I note that there are 4 2 wire (8/2, 10/2, 12/2 & 14/2) and 2 3 wire (10/2 & 12/2, the 3rd is ground) types and 4 sizes of compression fittings; each fitting size is available in Machine Screw Thread (MST) and National Pipe Thread (NPT) thread. The MST type has 7 components and the NPT 4 and there are 18 configurations of inserts for the various wire sizes. This is a lot of stuff.
We have been using (when appropriate) this type of fitting (non-metalic) for 20 years but without the wing nut which is a welcome addition.
The Q-Tran binder which came in the mail three days ago has 50+ pages detailng their complete toroidal line; 2 pages of which show the "O" series outdoor transformers. However there were no pages referring to Qwire and Qclik.
I have a great deal of respect for Q-Tran's superb product line all of which are designed and built to "space shuttle" type specifications. Until I can procure an "O" series transformer and samples of the 10/2 Qwire and a selection of their fittings I will reserve my opinions of them for after they have spent some time in my hands.

I highly encourage you to contact John Tremaine again and ask him to send you out the Qscape system catalog, and the sample pack they have assembled. The QScape powermanagement system (for lack of a more appropriate description) is remakable and revolutionary.
I believe their website is now updated with the details of Qscape.
I recently hosted John here in Ontario and introduced him to the outdoor lighting community to promote Qscape. Everyone in the room was blown away by the thought and engineering that went into this line. You really have to see it and have it presented to you to appreciate it. Every component is new and unique. Every detail has been thought through. It is remarkable.
Call or email John again and ask for all the details. He will be at Lightfair in Vegas, so look for him there and ask to go to the private suite for a demonstration.
Have a great day.
