I was wondering which is the most reliable timer set-up for the least amount of call backs/issues.

I have been using the Aube switch inside a Nightscaping outlet box, but the other day I just simply installed a mechanical Intermatic timer with a Kichler photocell. I wanted something simple and a little more cost effective. If the newer controllers out there are more reliable, I'll try them.

I think a good timer/controller would be one that is serviced no more often than once a year. No pestering dst issues, no need for an EC to install it, no little watch batteries that could drain after one power outage, no having to take a transformer box apart to flip things upside down.

The promise of LED's aside, sometimes I hate technology.

Stick with the Aube TI035 Digital Astro Timer and you will be ok. I have never had good luck with any consumer grade Intermatic Digital Timer. They are not great performers, use up batteries quickly and are not designed for cold climates.

I use the "old fashioned" Intermatic T101R and commecial photo cell whenever I can.
Idiotproof and bulletproof.
