I have been looking through UL 1598 and there is plenty of info about marking requirements but I don't see anything about the location of the necessary marking. My basic question is does a wattage sticker have to be affixed to a permanent part of the fixture. It seems like it would have to but I would like to quote UL standards directly. I have a manufacturer that has attached the sticker to a part that could, though unlikely, be removed from the lighting fixture.

Thank you

As a member of the Standards Technical Panel for Underwriters Laboratories "Standard for Safety for Luminaires, UL 1598" during its development I can assure you that very specific marking locations are detailed in Table 17.1.3 on page 297 of the first edition of UL1598 published on January 31, 2000. The book has 320 pages of text so it may be that you ran out of patience reading this very dry manual all the way through.

The removal of a label by the owner or the installer is another matter entirely. The only permanent marking method would embossing, debossing or engraving the text of the required label on an essential part.

These statements are my own opinion and do not imply endorsement by UL.

Thank you very much. I'm sure that, since it was in a table, I skimmed past it.
