Has anyone had any experience with the California Series Transformers from callite.com?
The Max 600 seems well constructed with multi-tap, photo cell, & timer, UL 1838 approved. The price is also reasonable.
Any comments?

When you look at a new product every person has a so called must have list to be able to spec. equipment. I didn't really look at the Cal. series because of a couple of must haves were missing.

1. Multi tap ability - the cal series has a multi volt switch on each 300W section, which makes that whole section 12,13, or 14. If you need 360 watts on the 13 volts and lets say 100 watts on 12 volts you can't do it. Example 300 watts on one section with the multi switch on 13 volts. That leaves you with one section and a need for 60 watts at 13 volts and 100 watts at 12 volts and remember the switch controls the voltage for the whole section, I don't see away to make that happen?

2. Ability to have Digital timer controls with backup during power loss such as the Grasslin or Hadco T-6 unit.

Good point. So I guess the product makes the choice for you if what you are looking for is maximum configurability (and who isn't looking for that?).

Eden Lights,
It seems that most manufacturers of "multi-tap" transformers are actually dual tap, except for Hadco which has a triple tap. Is this correct? Are there any other manufacturers worth considering besides Hadco?

Thanks

P.S. I just noticed that Vista has a tri-tap transformer as well.

Vista and Hadco both have a multi-tap transformer, you must use a plug in style digital timer such as the Hadco T6 with these units. If you like the grasslin style digital timer you should check out the transformers at Lion Lighting and or Escort Lighting products.
