Every year, we are approached by garden designers to light exhibition gardens at various flower shows around the UK. We normally do just the one, to give it its correct title, "The Royal Horticultural Society Chelsea Flower Show".

This year we decided on a small garden named "Think!", which was entered into the "chic garden" category. We chose this particular garden as it was designed primarily to maximise media attention, and our brief was to go radical with the design.

Not a great lover of coloured lights, I swallowed my pride and used a fusion of blues greens and whites onto the various cacti and the olive tree, and backlit the purple face of the water feature with blue. (All MR16 20w). A single 300w transformer was incorporated into a light sequencer which was programmed to fade the lights in and out at random (4 circuits).

The garden won a gold medal for the designers.
