Hello,

We are about to have a new house built on 5 acres of woods. I would like to have accent lights out in the trees in front of the house but probably 25-40 feet away. I would like be able to turn these light on and off from inside of the house and I was wondering what type of lighting should I look into and any idea on what pricing to look at ?

Thanks for any suggestions or ideas!!

Take care,

Craig

Craig, if you would like to see the trees, use uplights; if you would like to see the ground, use tree-mounted downlights. At the distance you state I would recommend mounting an appropriate low voltage transformer (total lamp watts x 1.5 = transformer capacity) next to a GFCI receptacle with raintight-in-use cover and have your electrician provide an interior switch. You should consider automatic control. There is more info at my web site "A Consumer Guide to Low Voltage Outdoor Lighitng" at <www.sitelights.com> which includes a DIY page, specifications and typical prices. Joe
