What I've been looking for is a compact low wattage floodlight (more accurately a "spread" light) to use as fill-lighting to bridge between more intense accent lighting. A spread light should have the following characteristics: the horizontal beam width should be at least 3:1 and by that I mean that for every foot of distance from the object (say a stone wall) the beam should be three times wider i.e. at 3 feet the beam would be 9 feet wide.
There is equipment out there that has the optical performance but, because the ratings are for up to a 75w bi-pin halogen, the body of the fixture is too large for my needs. I am looking for a unit that accepts 20w max. and does not have all those fussy little, easily lost screws to remove when re-lamping. I am currently using the Hadco WAML-14A but it is twice as large as it would need to be if lamped at 20w or less. This is a great fixture (you could drive a car over it) but it is just too big. comments?
