Does anyone know of or heard of any type of long tubular low profile fixture for lighting a 1.5 ft high rock wall that is about 50 feet long? I have considered small mr11 spots but still have not decided. I can only mount them about 5 inches away from the wall as that is where the lawn starts. Any suggestions appreciated.

There are some LED-based solutions I have seen. Check out http//www.berkeleypoint.com/
They have an example of someone lighting a low rock wall, and they have stakes for their lights. I bought some of them and used a hammer drill on rocks, mounted the lights in the rocks and aimed them at foliage. They look nice. Not bright, hot light, but a warm, cool moonlight.

Consider fibre-optic cable in its "sidelight" form. You'd need 50' of 1/2" multi-strand cable, 2 75w illuminators (feed each end) and enough snap-on channel to reflect the light out of one side of the cable. You could also let the cable lay on the ground at the base of the wall. With 150w (2 x 75w) you achieve 3w per foot with only 2 lamps. This would yield a uniform wash of light without the hotspots that a series of lamps would create.
