I notice there is nowhere to post information regarding marketing your business or local seminars, getting new customers, non-technical stuff, etc.

Straight up... I build landscape lighting websites, it's a specialty for my company and I would like to make my services known. I don't however want to be the jerk that spams the bulliten board.

My interest in joining and being a part of this is "keeping my finger on the pulse of the industry." It's the same reason I subscribe to industry mags, have relationships with many manufacuturers, distributors and designer/contractors. I wan't to know what everyone's talking about.

Since this seems to be the only misc. type category, I'll post here. If my attempt to hawk my wares is a no-no just let me know and I'll stick to imparting my knowledge of lenses and louvers.

Thanks,
Vikki

There is no blanket restriction on commercial posts as long as they are related to the intent of the site. There are a number of commercial posts introducing products of interest to the membership and guests. In fact, there was once a entire page of links to manufacturers of low voltage outdoor lighting equipment.

The activity on the forums is given as numerical values for the popularity of posts and threads. Access to more specific kinds of traffic is addressed in posts in this forum; the books are open.

I am not going to tuck my violin under my chin at this point but having lost the original webmaster to the siren song of commercialism puts me in the hands of a service company that charges me $75.00 every time I send them an email. My knowledge of technical matters sufficient to enable me to manage the site is nil.

This site is funded entirely by me out of income derived from my landscape lighting business. There are no dues or fees to members or guests. This means I must carefully weigh the cost/benefit aspects of changes to the site.

If you would care to pursue a private email exchange I would be pleased to consider your services.

I appreciate the complexity of changing the site, being a designer myself, my coders love to extract money from me too, They call it a paycheck :) I would love to work with you. Here's my info!

I can vouch for Vikki, her fees are fair, her work is good and she has an impressive list of landscape lighting company clients. I've given her several referrals and every one has been serviced well.
