Currently unavailable except through a book search source, the "Landscape Lighting Design Book" (1998) Verlag Georg D. W. Callwey publisher (Munich); ALS Landscape Design Institute, Inc. editor (Tokyo) is worth the effort. Janet Lennox Moyer was the adviser for this publication. The entire range of outdoor lighting design is illustrated with numerous photographs and schematic renderings of various lighting techniques. The wonderfully precise and evocative renderings are the best I've ever seen and greatly surpass the usual examples of lighting techniques found in other publications. The text (in English and Japanese) accompanying the illustrations is a model of brevity and concision and is free of academic cant. The commentary is both practical and philosophical but the emphasis is on how to see lighting and how to think about light. If you can find a copy in good condition for under $100.00 and you have an interest in the finer points of exterior lighting this is the best book available on the topic since Moyer's "The Landscape Lighting Book" (1992) John Wiley & Sons, Inc.

The missing type in the extreme upper right corner is: "TOPOS special" [Topos is a European landscape design magazine published by Callwey] ; this was beyond the scanner bed. This soft cover book is slightly larger than 9" X 12".

The left side is cropped because it has fallen into the "gutter"; a full image would have required removing the page which I was not willing to do.

The background texture is not on the original; this is a limitation of the scanner. The graphic representations of the underwater lighting techniques are models of clarity; there are illustrations of this type (along with photographs) throughout the book.
