I am trying to get under a driveway that does not have a sleave. Would it be best to call a boring company? I have used the jet water method to get under sidewalks. Is it possible to use this method to get all the way under a driveway. I have sometimes used a transformer on each side of the house to avoid this problem. This is a circular drive and so I have to get under it somehow. If you have any suggestions please let me know. I would be interested to know if any of you know an aproximate cost as I am trying to put a bid together for this project.

I would be tempted to but the ball in the clients court and suggest they get their landscaper / builder to lift the drive (depending on what it's contructed of) and install what we in the UK call a duct or sleeve in the US. This would make your quote alot easier. The other method we might use over here would be a mole to bore a hole and pull the cable under the drive. This method can be rather hit and miss and could damage any service lines / pipes that may be under the drive. These machines can be hired for self use......Good Luck

We've used a few different methods; it depends upon the driveway composition. Concrete drives can be crossed in an expansion joint which is then re-caulked; asphalt drives prompt a call to a local "invisible" dog fence company to cut a slot (about $10.00 per lineal foot) or we use a grinder with the appropriate blade; pavers in sand require taking up and carefully re-laying.

I have in the past used rigid pipe with metal plumbers cap on the end going under drive an take a sledge hammer to the other end with a rigid coupling on it so that it can be removed to add another stick of rigid pipe to it if needed , there are times you come out where you want then there are times it hits something under the drive an takes a detour downward or sideways but it will work.

It is better to call the boring company. I tried to experiment a driveway to save $ but failed finally. Called them, they are magicians they solved my issue very neatly and now I am lucky to have a neat driveway. So no use of following the suggestions mentioned here.
